American Smooth is a form of ballroom dancing that originated from the USA. It was designed as a way to modernize the ballroom style. As Latin dances gained popularity and societies became more conservative, young people began to look for a more informal way of dancing. They felt that traditional ballroom dancing was too formal.
American Smooth focuses on smooth, fluid movements across the dance floor and is similar to International Standard dancing. This style of dancing allows the partner to be free and can include the waltz and foxtrot as well as cha-cha and cha cha.
Standard smooth dances are done to western music and require couples to move counterclockwise around a rectangular floor. White tie events are common in competitive dances. Men wear tailcoats. American Smooth dancers often wear vests and short tuxes.

American Rhythm
American Rhythm, or R&B, is a style of ballroom dancing that focuses on the dancer’s footwork. The basic steps of this style are similar to those of International Latin. It is often associated to lovers falling in love and is a popular type of dance in Latin America and the Caribbean.
International Standard
The International Standard in ballroom dance is one of five dances that make the International Style. This dance is the oldest form of partner dancing and is considered the “standard” of the dance world. It was originally a form of social dancing in which heads were kept apart and bodies were moved from a distance.
A dancer who aims to reach a high level of Standard has to master a precise position for their dance, which allows both of their bodies to move in perfect harmony. This is a complex skill that takes years of practice and study. A refined sense of body alignment and connection with a partner is also necessary to achieve this level of proficiency.
International Standard dancers have a reputation for their musicality and their beautiful footwork. Because of this, they are often referred to as “dance frames.” The International Standard style is similar to American smooth, but has a distinct frame and stance. It is similar to Rhythm dancing but is more relaxed and noncompetitive.
International Latin
International Latin ballroom dancing has been called one of the most exciting forms in dance. This style involves intricate footwork and long, sexy leg lines that require strength and sophistication. In addition to its physical demands, Latin dancing is very social, meaning it allows you and your partner more freedom to play and explore your movement.
At ballroom dancing competitions, there are many Latin dances. This style was developed during the 20th century, when it was incorporated into the swing style of jazz music. It is a fast-paced dance that allows couples to show their physical fitness and technical skills.
The dance is very different from other European dances. It includes jumps and turns. It also involves the couple pouring along a parquet. A few of the different types of Latin dances include the samba, cha-cha-cha, rumba, and paso doble.
